The ridership reductions caused by COVID are likely to be a long-term challenge that might require new service-delivery models and schedules, based on resources and riders' needs, the public transit agency said. Greater Dayton RTA's fixed-route buses had about 5.1 million riders in 2021, down 13% from 2020, according to agency data obtained by the Dayton Daily News. 1-Greater Dayton RTA's overall bus ridership declined again last year as many people continued to work from home and took fewer trips during the ongoing pandemic.
